Its cos ive played the game i know it was a dive or he was looking for it

He shuffled the ball through miles in front of him as he done it at pace to try and get the contact

He never had any intention on getting on the end of his own 'shuffle' If you look there is no contact so how did he go down?

"Nobes was trying to shuffle the ball through... right foot, left foot, possible opportunity after that. The ball was slightly too far ahead of him and he got his right foot round it to move it left but he was off balance by then and his right foot slid away.

You do sometimes wonder if half the folk on here have ever played the game..."

It's only West Ham supporters who think it wasn't a dive. Carragher and Neville (who both played the game at the highest level) thought he was trying to buy a penalty too.

No one touched him and his ankle suddenly buckled underneath him and he went sprawling. It was a dive. He's dived quite a bit before in the past and been booked for it a few times. It's one of the few aspects of his game I don't like.

Fingers crossed; we’ll fold and die as a club soon.

I think that too many people are buying in to the latest bullshit coming from the media; that if it is not a foul then it is a dive. Can people not slip or simply lose their balance and fall over anymore?

People like Sky and TalkSport love to generate this controversy as it gives them more to talk about.

W4 so are we just going to ignore that brilliant performance against norwich? First game after a 2 week break is always weird and we weren't the only team that was struggling (city, wolves, everton, arsenal..). We can't be unhappy with recent results as we are unbeaten for 5 games now and kept back to back clean sheets. I expect a much better performance against united though.

_____

I hear ya. Im just arksing the question, what does a pellegrinii side look like and im unsure with this squad - like I said you take anderson & anonjo out of the norwich and watford games and the rest are pretty much ( eye roll) Read that nobes was saying we were losing games to brighton and wolves last year so maybe thats the next ste- tighter and more disciplined away and win more at home..

I didn't think either were penalties, but they weren't dives either.

Fred just ran himself off his feet. Moving at that sort of pace, it's easy to do. Nothing to see.

Nobes was trying to shuffle the ball through... right foot, left foot, possible opportunity after that. The ball was slightly too far ahead of him and he got his right foot round it to move it left but he was off balance by then and his right foot slid away.

Im guessing Ajeti will start at Oxford

Although i do find it weird how he has hardly been used in the prem.......is he pants in training? .....

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
I would have liked to have seen Ajeti get a run out for the last ten minutes or so. Haller ran his socks off but never looked like scoring so fresh legs and a look at Ajeti would have been good. How are we going to expect Ajeti to perform, as and when he is needed, if we don't give him any time on the pitch?

If Haller gets injured we will have to throw Ajeti on having only played in the LC... should be giving him 10-15 minutes most games.

Still a bit underwhelmed by Fornals but I'm sure he will improve as he gets used to the league so 20 minutes from him was good to see.

I love the way that some people are still questioning MP

After the shocking start to last season we've gone from strength to strength apart from a sticky patch after
the Arnie transfer request.

In fact they showed the table taking results since December 1st before the Villa game and we are 7th and 2 points behind Tottenham (1 point behind after Villa result)

So even after a rough patch in Jan/Feb we are still only just behind the top 6 since December, not sure how much more some people expect??

He failed to appeal it because he knew he could get a 2nd yellow for the dive so thought best get up sharpish and play on as if nothing happened.

He sent the ball through a gap hoping he would get clattered trying to get through that same gap. No contact came and he looked like a diving so and so

There was 0 contact so 0 reason to go to ground. If he had stayed up he would of got nowhere near the ball anyway as he'd knocked it so far forward. It was all trying to buy a pen.

Lee Trundle 11:16 Wed Sep 18
Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
He dived, Pickled. Have a look at his ankle "giving away" when nothing touched him. He'd have been rolling around in agony if there was the slightest touch.

He's probably the biggest diver in the squad, along with Lanzini and Antonio.

Failing to appeal for a foul and getting up before really going to ground is “diving”?

WHO is the book I learn these things from.

Rossal 10:44 Wed Sep 18
Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
Fredricks went over far too easy. It wasnt a pen.

And Noble dived, very lucky not to receive a second yellow.

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
I was looking for that looooong discussion on Pellegrini- where are we going - after the brighton game and couldnt find it so came back here....

The question I still dont really get what kind of team he's trying to build - if you take individual performances ( anderson second half v norwich; antonio second half v watford) aside -we still play generally well for about half a game at a time

We dont play high press; we kind of play counter attack football; we sort of play with two central CB's and kind of wingbacks and sometimes have rice at the base of a diamond, etc etc

Are our players too ill-disciplined/maverick/unskilled to play the way pellers wants- the look on his face seems to say so , often

Accepting that we have a generally better side every window , thats why i dont agree that 5 points from brighton, watford and villa away is somehow progress - surely we should be further on than this...looking again at the villa match a day after being up there--it could have easily been a re-run of the wolves match last year where they overran us ijn the end and we just kind of gave up ---playing 90 minutes and not making the villa GK make a save- is that the best we can do?

I guess three clean sheets os progress and we do have a eam of new players and returning ones however im still nervous we havent really clicked yet and still unsure what his actual vision is...

Weren't his 2 best saves from offside shots, doesn't detract from the quality of the saves but they didn't keep us in the match.

Has it been said, Fabianski played a massive part in our draw.

Watching ter Stegen reminded me of some great saves from Fabianski to keep us in the game.

Fredericks went over too easy, but that what's tends to happen when the officials start over-influencing the game; players start trying to score the winner by getting a decision.

It's a real shame.

Was there a hand in his back?
Or did he dive?
